No. Maids & Trades isn't about a financial exchange — it's a mutual exchange of your skills and time for the other person's time and trust. Your time and labour are payment enough; the pleasure is in serving and being helpful.

Offer your help politely and respectfully. If you're ever unsure, ask beforehand so you both clearly understand the dynamic and what has been agreed.

Politely say so and, if needed, walk away. If you're part-way through a job, try to bring it to a sensible stopping point first, then thank them and quietly leave. If you're receiving the service, politely ask the provider to finish up — or simply stop — and leave, without question.

Always discuss and agree the dynamic beforehand. It might be plain, helpful “vanilla” work — cutting the grass for an older neighbour or changing a lightbulb — or a different agreed dynamic, such as working in a maid's outfit or cleaning a strong woman's floors every Thursday. Talk first, ask polite questions, give clear answers and find what's comfortable for you both. If at any time it doesn't feel comfortable, respectfully say so.

Trust is vital, and both parties will hold personal details — addresses, phone numbers, emails and legal names. Don't share these too soon: talk for a few days by email, phone or the site's messenger, meet if it helps, and only exchange details once trust is established.

Stalking or intruding on anyone's private life is never acceptable. In the unlikely event it happens, the other person should be reminded that you hold their details too — and please report it to our admin team.

Accidents happen, so be reasonable. For something small, like a plate dropped while washing up, a polite apology is enough — just take extra care. For anything more serious, agree fair compensation or replace the item. And remember: someone giving their time for free is unlikely to break something on purpose.

Don't give everything away at once — get to know each other and build trust first. If someone is letting you into their home and sharing their details, it's reasonable to give your name and a little information in return. Chat by message or phone, or meet somewhere neutral to get a feel for each other.

For specialist work — for example as a professional electrician or plumber — you may reasonably be asked for references showing you can do the job properly.

Sadly, this happens — some people get cold feet. Getting to know someone before sharing your address always helps. If you have second thoughts or an emergency comes up, tell the other person; honesty is always respected. Try not to let anyone down or waste their time — talking is best.

“Doxy” is an archaic slang term for a Mistress, sex worker or promiscuous woman, with several modern meanings too. As covered under payment, this site isn't about a financial exchange — and a sex worker deserves as much respect as any worker.

A respectful person would never take or share photos without first agreeing both with you. Don't give the person you're serving any reason to threaten this — remember your place and stay polite.

In the rare event it happens, report it to us and the member will be asked to remove anything you're not happy with. Talk, establish the dynamic, respect each other's private lives — and treat others as you'd like to be treated.
